After his high-school diploma in 1985, Mr Schües started an apprenticeship as ship-broker in Hamburg, which he completed in 1987. In 1988 he started his Studies of Economics at the University of Buckingham, England, which he completed in 1990. Thereafter, Mr Schües took an MBA course at the Instituto de Empresa, Spain, which he finished in 1992. Subsequently, he worked with shipping companies in Madrid and New York.
In 1993 Mr Schües joined F. Laeisz and is today its Owner and CEO. He is President Designate of BIMCO, Member of the Presidential Committee of the German Shipowners Association, Deputy Chairman of the UK P & I Club, Member of the Norwegian Hull Club Committee and Member of the Board of Directors of the Schutzverein Deutscher Rheder.
Nikolaus H. Schües is married and has 3 children.
