Mark Williams is founder and MD of Shipping Strategy Ltd. Mark advises clients around the world on shipping and global economic developments, assisting them with shipping investment decisions. Shipping Strategy also provides maritime training through partnerships with Marine Money, Lloyd’s Maritime Academy, BIMCO, and other groups and is a founder member of the Diversity and Inclusion Study Group for Shipping.
During 23 years in shipping, Mark has led numerous advisory projects on the dry bulk, tanker, container, gas, offshore, Ro-Ro, multi-purpose, shipbuilding and ship recycling sectors. He has experience of startups and of designing and delivering online multimedia content delivery systems. Mark was previously a partner in Affinity (Shipping) LLP (2015-18), Group Head of Research for Braemar Shipping Services Plc (2010-2015), Director of Consultancy, MSI Ltd (2009-10), Director of Consultancy, HSBC Shipping Services (2002-2009) after several roles at Informa Plc (1996-2002).
Mark is a regular speaker at international shipping industry conferences. He is a published author of articles on shipping and operational research. In addition to his training partnerships he has been a guest lecturer at Cass Business School (City of London University) and Plymouth University.
Mark graduated B.A. in 1992 and M.A. in 1995 in English Language and Literature from the University of Oxford. He graduated M.Sc. in Industrial and Business Studies from Buckinghamshire New University in 1999.
